Mommy and Daddy don’t quite understand how you are more comfortable sleeping in a nearly sitting up position with your head on Mommy’s shoulder to the tune of Daddy’s loud snores than you are in your crib with your soft blankets and Lullabye Bob Marley playing gently in the background. And just as we can’t believe that over the past month you've started taking several steps in a row, folding your hands to pray before dinner, performing the itsy bitsy spider and signing for more food or milk, we can’t believe that we've already taken 12 of these monthly photos. You are now 1 year old and it has truly been a month long celebration. You didn't celebrate the flu shot you got this month but you’ll thank us later when you aren't sick. Thanksgiving was this month, so we did take time to reflect on all the things we are thankful for. Daddy was particularly thankful that he got to fry two turkeys for two Thanksgiving dinners on the holiday as we went to an afternoon lunch with Mommy’s family before heading back home to eat with Grammy and Gramps, who came to visit you from Florida. Mommy and Daddy took to you a Winthrop Homecoming basketball game this month too. We had just as much fun watching the game as we did watching you watch the cheerleaders and the Big Stuff Eagle mascot. For Halloween, you dressed up as a Ladybug and attended Trunk or Treat at church. You and Mommy didn't celebrate Daddy having to travel to California for a work trip but did help him celebrate the company award he received by meeting him for lunch at one of our favorite restaurants. When you get older, don’t ever try to claim that you don’t like avocado, we’ll happily show a picture of you and a bowl of guacamole from this lunch date. In another picturesque moment caught on camera, we were able to capture a less than enthusiastic moment for you, the brief seconds that you sat on Santa’s lap. Mommy and Daddy are certain though that in Christmases to come, your affinity for the man in the red suit will take a turn for the better. Also this month, you helped LeeLee and Graham celebrate their first birthdays. This was good practice leading up to your first birthday party and this month’s biggest celebration for us all. Many of our friends and family came to our house to celebrate your special day. We had pink balloons, streamers and Daddy even bought you a dozen pink roses. You had fun opening presents, almost more fun with the wrapping paper than the presents themselves. You were hesitant to dig into your beautiful cake, but after a little coaxing, you were able to enjoy the sweet taste of frosting. Mommy put a lot of thought and time into planning your party, from the decorations down to the desserts, it was a picture perfect party. The only problem Mommy and Daddy had is that it went by so fast…kind of like the past year…in a flash. Here is a quick look back...
